The Foundation uses a peer review process, in which scientists and experts examine research proposals for rigor, integrity and quality. Simply put: only the best of the best are funded.

1. Donate.
The patient, rheumatology and pharmaceutical communities come together and make investments that fund essential research and training grants.

2. Select.
Expert peer reviewers examine applications and score them against rigorous criteria. Applications are ranked and sent to the Scientific Advisory Council, which makes funding recommendations to the Board of Directors.

3. Approve.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors review and approve the funding recommendations made by the Scientific Advisory Council.

4. Award.
The Foundation notifies and distributes funds to applicants selected through the peer review process and approved by the Board of Directors.
