Rheumatology Research Foundation Earns Top Rating from Charity Navigator for 12th Consecutive Year
December 1, 2020
ATLANTA - For the 12th consecutive year, the Rheumatology Research Foundation (Foundation) has achieved a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. Four stars is the highest rating awarded by Charity Navigator, the nation's largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. Only one percent of charities evaluated have received at least twelve consecutive 4-star evaluations.
The Foundation's mission is advancing research and training to improve the health of people with rheumatic diseases. Foundation-funding helps recruit medical and doctoral students into the subspecialty and supports investigators working in the field of rheumatology. Since it was founded in 1985, the Foundation has committed $180M directly to rheumatology research and training.
The core components of Charity Navigator ratings—financial health, accountability and transparency—are measured annually. This 4-star designation also indicates the Foundation adheres to nonprofit sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.
“We are proud to announce the Foundation has earned its twelfth consecutive 4-star rating,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 1% of the charities we evaluate have received at least twelve consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating the Foundation outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets the Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”
“In our mission to advance research and training, we work hard to ensure our donors trust that their investment is used wisely,” said Mary Wheatley, IOM, CAE, executive director of the Foundation. “Our twelfth 4-star rating emphasizes our commitment to good governance, financial accountability and programmatic impact.”
