ACR Convergence Awards

Attendees at an American College of Rheumatology annual meeting.Cultivating an interest in rheumatology is essential to ensuring students, residents and fellows pursue careers in the field and help fill shortages, both academically and geographically. The ACR Convergence Awards recognize scholarship among aspiring rheumatology professionals.


Choose Rheumatology Scholarship

An opportunity for students and residents to experience the 2024 ACR Convergence meeting.

Purpose
The purpose of the Choose Rheumatology Scholarship is to introduce students and residents to the specialty of rheumatology. 

Medical and graduate students and residents in areas of the United States underserved by rheumatologists and rheumatology health professionals should apply for the Choose Rheumatology Scholarship – Workforce Expansion (View Request for Applications)

Medical and graduate students and residents from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine, including but not limited to those defined as URiM by the Association of American Medical Colleges, should apply for the Choose Rheumatology Scholarship – Underrepresented in Medicine (View Request for Applications)

Undergraduate students, or those in post-baccalaureate training, should apply for the Choose Rheumatology Scholarship – Undergraduate Students and Post-Baccalaureate Training (View Request for Applications)

Award Amount
$2,000 for travel expenses and complimentary registration to the 2024 ACR Convergence;

Student & Resident Research Award  

An opportunity to experience the field firsthand at ACR Convergence; before applying, students must submit an abstract to the annual meeting.

Purpose
The purpose of the Student & Resident Research Award is to recognize outstanding medical students and residents for significant work in the field of rheumatology as evidenced by being an author or co-author of an abstract submitted to ACR Convergence 2024. 

Award Amount
$1,000 award and $1,000 for travel expenses to attend the 2024 ACR Convergence

Pediatric Rheumatology Fellow Research Award

An opportunity to experience the field firsthand and present an abstract at ACR Convergence; before applying, fellows must submit an abstract to the annual meeting.

Marshall J. Schiff, MD, Memorial Fellow Research Award
